The summer days seemed to have blurred together a bit for me and I realized that I did not do a book blog post for the month of August, so this round-up covers the last several weeks since my last book review back in July 🙂
The Dictionary of Lost Words by Pip Williams
This book was excellent, and I definitely recommend giving it a read but be advised, it starts off slow. But be patient and you will be rewarded. Although the book is fiction, it is based off real-live events in history and that is interesting in and of itself, especially if you enjoy reading historical fiction like I do.
Danger on the Atlantic and Murder at the Mena House by Erica Ruth Neubauer
This is a new series to me. Both books follow a widower named Jane Wunderly who inadvertently solves mysteries, and it is set in the 1920’s. If you have been around here awhile, you know my favorite mysteries are the ones set in the 1910’s and 1920’s before there was technology. I enjoyed both books and look forward to reading others in the series.
Sorrow and Bliss by Meg Mason
Awful, awful book. It seems everyone enjoyed this book but the few of us on Goodreads who thought it was just bloody awful. This is one of those books that makes you irrationally angry that you wasted hours of your life reading it, that is how bad it is. Skip this book and don’t believe the hype surrounding it.
Cozy White Cottage Seasons by Liz Marie Galvan
If you enjoy cozy home decor and doing little updates with each season, then you will enjoy this book. Liz’s Instagram is also chock full of fun ideas as well.
That’s it from me! Anything interesting you have read lately? Let me know! 🙂
