Short book review list this time around!
C is For Corpse and D is For Deadbeat by Sue Grafton
Somehow in one of my moves from California to Oregon and back to California again, my Kinsey Millhone books disappeared. I can’t remember if I accidently donated them, sold them, lost them, or what have you, but I am slowly adding them back to my collection. I love these books so much and the writing is just flat out awesome. A great mystery series if you are interested!
An Irish Hostage by Charles Todd
The mother/son writing duo known as “Charles Todd” write two different mystery series. One revolves around a Scotland Yard Inspector right after WWI and deals with his cases and the other series revolves around a WWI British nurse who is inadvertently drawn into cases where her nursing expertise helps solve a case.
An Irish Hostage is the latest book in the second series, this one taking place in 1919, with British nurse Bess Crawford who is on leave from nursing to quickly attend a wedding in Ireland. But all is not as it seems when Ireland is being torn apart by nationalism and in the midst of the unrest threatening the wedding, the groom disappears. The book had quite a bit of background on the Easter Rebellion which took place just three years before in 1916 and how that was affecting the climate in Ireland and the hostilities that were happening, which plays a part in why the groom was kidnapped. I found the book interesting and much better than the last book in this series.
Not too many books since my last post. My eldest daughter started back to school and other things have been going on which have cut into my reading time (also Football season has started so your girl has been parked in front of the television). Hopefully I will have a more varied list of book reviews next month 🙂

I read a bunch of the alphabet series and for some reason stopped halfway through. I really should find pick that back up again. Kinsey Milhone is a legend!

The first ten books of the series are really the best. The storylines get a bit darker after that, but still definitely worth a read!
